Teen skincare FAQs

Quick answers from our dermatologist panel.

At what age should a teen start a skincare routine?+

Most teens can start a simple routine around 11–13, when oil production increases. Three steps are enough: a gentle cleanser morning and night, a lightweight moisturiser, and a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning.

What is the simplest routine for teenage acne?+

A gentle non-foaming cleanser twice a day, one active such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide used on alternate nights to start, a non-comedogenic moisturiser, and daily sunscreen. Give any routine 6–8 weeks before judging results, and see a dermatologist for painful or cystic acne.

Do teens really need sunscreen every day in India?+

Yes. UV levels stay high across Indian cities year-round, even when it is cloudy. Daily SPF 30+ is the single most effective way to prevent dark marks after acne, tanning and early pigmentation.

How long do acne marks take to fade?+

Red or brown post-acne marks usually fade over 3–6 months on their own. Daily sunscreen speeds this up, while picking at spots and sun exposure make marks darker and longer-lasting.

Are Bélletique Academy guides reviewed by dermatologists?+

Yes. Every guide is written for teen skin and reviewed by our dermatologist panel before publishing. Guides are educational only and do not replace a personal consultation.

Can I ask a dermatologist my own skin question?+

Yes. Post your question anonymously in the Bélletique community Q&A and verified dermatologists answer it there. Your identity is never shown alongside your question.
